Faber Castell has built a bit of a reputation for taking the use of impressive natural materials to new heights when it comes to their Pen of the Year limited editions. Everything from rare hardwoods, fossilized ivory, amber, even stingray leather. The Pen of the Year 2007 doesn't depart from this tradition, this time around, Faber Castell has brought petrified wood into their stable of materials from which to craft their pen.

The wood used in the 2007 Pen of the Year is predominately dark, with very bright light speckling throughout. It's a very elegant and understated material, and goes very well with the overall design. The pieces of wood have been carefully cut, curved to match the barrel, polished, and then fitted into a frame of high polished framework. The metal on the Pen of the Year 2007 is finished with platinum plating, making for a distinct contrast with the dark pieces of petrified wood.

The Faber Castell Pen of the Year 2007 is limited to production only during the year 2007. Each pen will be numbered, and is packaged in a very nice presentation box with all the associated paperwork. If you're looking for a work of art that has the daily utility to go along with it's beauty, take a look at the Pen of the Year!
